The Practiced Actor Class is for
children and youths who have either
completed one or more theater
classes at Old Gregg School
Community and Recreation Center,
or have previous theater class
experience.
The latter requires the
instructor's permission.
The Practiced Actor Class
Philosophy of the Theater
Department

Most children have an innate
creativity.  We like to build on
that. We want to afford any child
who ever felt that they would like
to be on stage or perform the
opportunity to do so.  Being able
to perform in front of an
audience is a great challenge,
and by conquering it, the child
feels a sense of
accomplishment and builds self
esteem.
Teaching Philosophy

The theater classes are run in a
fun, encouraging, and interactive
style.  Our goal is to get each
child comfortable on stage, and
most of our class time is spent
there.  Children are encouraged
to ask questions and/or share
thoughts.  Most of the material is
printed, reviewed and then
practiced in the class.  The
learning is done through fun
games and exercises.  It is our
belief that children learn best
through doing.

Final Notes......
Parents and guardians are welcome to stay and observe each
and every class, but it is not required.  We ask that you sit at
the back of the gym.  Student pick up time is 5pm, sharp.
Since our theater program is still developing and growing, we
do ask for help from the families with props, backgrounds, and
costumes.  This is never anything too elaborate, but if you
have a special talent, we would love to know about it!
Questions, concerns and comments are always welcomed.
